"....Well, we're here." The two stared up at the Pokemon laboratory ahead of them, the younger of the two folding his arms, a disappointed expression crossing his face. "That's it? It dosen't look very impressive. In fact, my room--"
Just as the younger was about to start on yet another annoying rant, the butler lightly nudged him forward into the door with his foot. Apparently he was unaware of his own strength- the boy promptly fell into the lab with a loud "OOF!"
"Master Bates!" He paused, snickering. "I sincerely apologize. Are you all right?" He asked, bending down and holding out a hand to help the boy up.
"... Like hell you do.." Bates grumbled before accepting the help and dusting himself off. Why, normally he'd fire the man for such insolence, but after his own display, he no longer had the option.
Damn it.

When the lab door fell open, the noise startled the single man currently situated inside. He was sitting at a plain oak desk that was covered with a variety of different coloured papers. The man was old but not elderly, at least in his fifties. Silvery gray hair grew around in a semi-circle from ear-to-ear, but never touched the top of his head (which was instead rather shiny). He blinked brown eyes, set behind thick lensed glasses, at the newcomers. He hardly noticed the trickle of coffee that had splashed onto his hand, for it was only a slightly lukewarm temperature.
"Oh my, visitors? At this hour?" he asked more to himself than the two standing at his doorstep, "I'm rather ill-prepared..."
With that said, Professor Isaac Kleiner stood up, and swiped his wet hand across his modest and well-used lab coat. He then proceeded over to the door.
"Hello there! ... Are you all right?" he asked, only now noticing that Geof had, in fact, fallen on the door. The professor was rather absent-minded like that. His mind was currently elsewhere, as demonstrated with how he had forgotten Geof Bates and his butler would arrive later that day.
Something stirred behind him. A pink creature hopped up onto the desk, gazing out the door with intense interest. A tongue swiped over its lips.
"You stay back there, Lamarr," Kleiner chided the creature. The female Gligar grinned in return, and made a loud obnoxious slurping noise.
"Anyways, come in, come in! No use standing around outside..." the professor retreated back into the lab himself, the forefront of which contained a sitting area, Kleiner's desk, and plethora of book shelves (which were stuffed to the brim).
"You must be... Geoffery Fornication Bates, is that correct?"

"Yes, that's right." Geoffrey nodded. "You've been well informed." He spoke, glancing back at his Butler, whom was staring with a quiet innocence out the window. He didn't suppose he would have called ahead- he probably didn't care to be here either. No matter..
"May I see the Pokemon you're offering, if it's not too much of a bother?" The boy asked casually, hiding the excitement, if any, that was bubbling up inside him well.
While the nursemaids were explaining what his father did once, one told him that his father typically kept a poker face while associating with clients.
Monkey hear, monkey do, one would suppose. The butler fumbled with the Pokeballs on his own waste for a moment, checking something briefly before returning his attentions to the window. He had no buisness here at the moment except to wait.

"Of course; that's why you're here, isn't it? To recieve a Pokemon?" Kleiner asked, without looking back at Geof. He had walked over to his desk, and was pushing papers aside, looking for something specific. Or, three things specific. Lamarr's grinned widened. She bunched up, and pounced landing on top of the professor's head. Kleiner was hardly phased by this; he was actually quite used to it. Rather, he went on pulling open various drawers and sifting through their contents.
"Not in here... nor in here... hm... ah, wait, aha! Found them!"
He pulled out three small round objects, and walked over to Geof (with Lamarr still latched onto his head). Smiling, he showed him the three objects, which turned out to be PokeBalls;
One was a light brown on top with a white bottom.
Another was red on top with a white bottom.
The third was yellow on top, with a white bottom.
"Each of these PokeBalls contains one Pokemon," Kleiner explained, "Based on the personality test you submitted, I picked three Pokemon from my large repertoire for you to choose from."
He pressed the buttons on the three balls. White light spilled out, forming into three separate creatures.
From the brown ball came a blue cat-like creature. It had a very prissy air about it, and its blue eyes were very hypnotic.
From the red ball came a puppy-like Pokemon, orange with black stripes. Its puffy white tail was wagging happily.
From the yellow ball came a mouse-like Pokemon, with a black tail and cute little pink cheek patches. It seemed very eager and energetic.
"Glameow, Growlithe, and Pichu," Kleiner said, naming the Pokemon in order, "These are the Pokemon I've selected for you; a normal-type, a fire-type, and an electric-type."
"Keep in mind you can only pick one," he added, his tone quite serious, "And after you've absolutely decided, you can't take back your choice. That way it's fair for everyone else."
"Now, go ahead and choose."

Geoffrey's eyes evidently widened upon looking over the young Pokemon. A flash of excitement could be seen on his expression, before he realized he was grinning like an idiot. Giving a small cough, he forced his expression to become neutral once more as he examined the pros and cons of the three.
Glameow was sophisticated, yes, but it's prideful nature could make training difficult. Not to mention it probably had no redeeming characteristics otherwise- he could always borrow Luna instead.
Down to the final two- Growlithe was considered "Man's Best Friend", and had the ability to breath fire, making campfires a snap.
Pichu was cute and... yellow. Though didn't Pichu have the inability to control its electricity?... But, yellow...
He paused. They both seemed optimistic, making it a tough call. He could always purchase the Evolution Stones somewhere, he figured, so either would be fine.
"Uh, what do you think, Jeeves?"
"...Now why are you asking me, Master Bates?" The butler glanced away from the window, appearing somewhat dazed.
"Because you... already have some prior knowledge in this field of course."
"Your first Pokemon should be chosen on your own..... It's going to be your companion after all, not mine." He yawned, watching the dust dance upon in the sunlight coming in the window.
Finally, after a few more minutes, he spoke. "I'll have the Growlithe, if you don't mind..."

"Growlithe? An excellent choice!" Kleiner told Geof. He returned both Glameow and Pichu to their respective PokeBalls, which he stowed away in his pocket.
"Growlithe is a very loyal fire-type Pokemon who will never disobey a master who has proven his or himself," the professor now explained, "it's a good choice as a beginner Pokemon simply for this reason."
"I should also tell you that this particular Growlithe happens to be a female," he added, "but genders don't really matter unless you're breeding or nicknaming Pokemon, hmm?"
Professor Kleiner passed the red PokeBall to Geof... and then, fished something else out of his other pocket. It looked like a red, metallic pocket-book.
"Take this with you as well," Kleiner said, "It's a PokeDex; you can record any Pokemon you find along the way in it. It's a personalized Pokemon encyclopedia. Truly remarkable, if you ask me!"
The Growlithe's tongue lolled out of her mouth. She looked up at Geof curiously, with a look on her face that showed she really didn't understand what was going on at that time.

Geof gave a quick nod of thanks and placed his gifts in their respective places on his fanny pack before looking down upon the Growlithe.
"You're coming with us, okay? You're my Pokemon now." He explained, cautiously holding a hand out to the small pup. At the same time, he was ready to reel it back if she tried to bite him. "Maybe we... Er, can be... "friends"?" He asked, sounding somewhat confused by the words that slipped off his tongue.
Friends?... He never really had any, though he'd always see people on TV and in books doing that whenever they received their first Pokemon. So why not? It could promote the chance of the pup actually listening to him.
The Growithe looked up at him curiously for a moment before licking his fingers, smelling some sort of snack food scent on them. The boy genuinely chuckled. "Heheh... You're like that weird vacuum salesperson that came to the door one day.. I think I'll call you Shira after it."
Jeeves simply watched quietly. While he could complain about being made to wait, he figured something like this happened when he got his first Pokemon as well, uninterrupted. Or they could at least wait until the professor shooed them out.
... Or the Gliger. That thing wasn't doing anything in particular, but it was rather menacing, if he did say so himself. "Well, we won't bother you any longer professor. Come, Master Bates."
With that, the butler ushered his master out the door, the Growlithe seeming to understand and trotting along behind.
