Dustin wandered through the eerie Solus Woods with Xavier floating along beside him. He kept his plastic scythe tightly gripped in his right hand. He was one who bragged about his love of death, darkness, and evil. Of course, as soon as he walked into the dank and creepy environment of these woods, he quickly fell out of this. If only he knew what it was he said he loved for what it was and not the image he wanted it to portray, then and only then, might he finally stop idolizing it. "X- X- Xavier?" Dustin asked, trying a failed attempt to settle his shaking voice. Xavier, being a Gastly, was far from frightened by these woods. He was a ghost after all. "Yeah?" He said floating along with an almost bored air about him. "I- I- I think we should turn around..." were the words that rocked out of the little reaper's mouth with more shake than a 50's malt. Xavier only looked up at his companion. "Why? We just left the path to come into these woods and now you're asking to turn around?" Xavier spoke the truth. Upon hearing about the dark woods, Dustin leaped at the chance to walk through them. He left the path and took a straight course right into the woods. Not five minutes in, he was wanting to turn around. "P- Please?" Dustin asked. Xavier looked up at him. "Are you begging me to let you leave?" Said the ghost-type with a grin. Dustin, realizing what the Gastly was getting at, leaped out of his scared vibe and forgot all about what was going on. He looked sternly at Xavier. "What? Me? Beg? Pfft." Dustin stuck his nose up in the air. "I'm not afraid of nothin'! These woods are nothin'! I wanted to come here because I love the darkness and creepiness. No there!" The wind rustled a bush and caused Dustin to stumble backwards, step on his cape, and fall to the ground. Xavier smirked.

"Niji, are you sure we're going the right way?" "Sure I'm sure! Just relax, Shin! According to this map, we should reach that sea route right about...now!" The female dubbed "Niji" stopped in her tracks and looked up from the map of Raeo she was holding, a big grin plastered across her childish face. However, that grin quickly faded once she saw that a big, creepy-looking forest was looming ahead of them, except for the promised sea route. Her dark brown eyes flicked back to the map, confusion obviously showing through. She turned it clockwise once, then counterclockwise twice, trying to make heads or tails of it while her friend, who was obviously "Shin," scratched the back of his messy brown hair as he stared at the forest before them. "Uh...maybe I should take a look at the map, Niji," the man, who was two years older than the eighteen-year-old, suggested, reaching towards the map with one hand, but the younger trainer held it away from him. "No, no...I got this," she said, brushing aside a strand of her long black hair that had escaped from the ponytail it was originally pulled into. With her hair up this way, the tips of it barely passed her shoulders. "If you say so," Shin murmured, playing with the zipper of his gray jacket. Currently, it was zipped up only about half-way over his somewhat-dirty white t-shirt. A thick silence filled the area, only disturbed by the occasional call of a Pokemon somewhere or Niji turning the map around again. Shin stuffed his hands into his dark blue jeans and shifted his wait from foot to foot, inspecting the dirty white sneakers he wore with his chocolate-brown eyes while he waited. Finally, Niji spoke up. "Um, I think we have to go through here first," she said, looking up at him while folding up the map and stuffing it back into the old black messenger bag that was slung over her shoulder, which was wrinkling her lavender shirt a little bit. She dug around in the pockets of her own jeans and pulled out a grape sucker, which she peeled the wrapper off of and stuck in her mouth while kicking away a rock with her foot, which was clad in a black converse that looked like it was on the verge of falling apart. "Well, I guess we should get moving then," Shin suggested, but only managed to take a few steps forward before he felt something grab his arm and cling to it tightly. "Niji..." "But it's dark and scary in there!" she said in a small voice, her face showing her fear. "Don't worry, I'm sure it just appears frightening," he assured her before spotting something a little ways ahead. "Hm? What's that? A kid?" Shin was about to call out to the kid, but he heard a loud help from beside him. "Holy shit!" Niji screamed, ducking behind Shin. "It's the Grim Reaper!"

Dustin and Xavier looked around. "I- I'm tired of this place" Dustin said, still trying to look tough. Xavier looked at him. "Fine" said the Gastly. "I'll go look for a way out." "WAIT!" Dustin screamed out. there was a silence. "I... I think... I think that we should, ya know... Stick together..." Xavier let out a sigh. "I'm looking for a way out. You stay here and don't move so I'll know where you are when I come back." And with that, Xavier, turned and floated into the woods. "No!" Dustin cried, but to no point. Xavier had already faded into nothingness and was gone. But Dustin refused to admit defeat. "COME BACK HERE!" He shouted, stomping his foot on the ground. The stomp echoed through a woods and caused Dustin to shiver with a tingle travelling up his spine, ending at his neck and causing his hair to stick up a little more than usual. For no reason other than his own paranoia, Dustin clutched his scythe and spun around. Nothing. Then he heard it. Voices. It could only mean one thing. Demons from hell had come to devour his soul. With a shrill of terror, Dustin busted into a run. Where was he going? Away. That's all that mattered. He'd keep running until he was safe. And so he did. But not until safety reached him. He stopped running when he finally pried his eyes open and saw two people standing up ahead. He noticed his feet running right at them. He was too terrified to stop. But at "Grim reaper" Dustin was startled all over again. They had come for him! they were going to kill him and take him away. Probably feast on his flesh. The startle caused Dustin's footing to slip, and he tripped over his own feet. He toppled head over heels until he skidded across the grassy ground of the woods and slowly came to a halt, right at the feet of the two death-bringers. In great pain, Dustin slowly craned his neck upward. He was looking up at the two minions of Satan. From the ground, Dustin let out a scream of epic volume and length.

Niji had jumped back in surprise when the little Grim Reaper had rolled down the hill towards them, and stumbled backwards onto her rear with a yelp when he let out his scream, unable to regain her footing between these to keep from falling. Shin, however, remained standing, though he did flinch in surprise when the kid let out a scream. "Hey, easy now!" he shouted over the scream, holding both hands up in front of him. "We mean you no harm!" When the kid wouldn't stop screaming, the man had to kneel down and cover his mouth with his hand, muffling the sound enough for him to speak over it. "It's okay, kid!" he assured. "We don't mean you any harm. Look, we're part of the Kibou no Senshi." At these words, he showed the kid the KnS broach hidden within his jacket: a Poke Ball with crimson wings.

Dustin's screamed echoed inside the man's hand after he had covered Dustin's mouth. It wasn't until the words "Kibou no Senshi" that Dustin stopped his scream. "Hummo hm memhmi?" Dustin said which, translated into unmuffled was just the phrase that stopped his screams. He just watched as the man showed him the KnS badge. It was then that Dustin jumped up in the air. "Kibou no Senshi!" He said throwing out an accusing finger. "You goodie goodies are done for!" Taking a few stomps forward, Dustin stood an inch from Shin and craned his neck to look up at him in an attempt to stare him down in intimidation. He failed. "Just because you snuck up on me doesn't mean you have the upper hand!" Dustin shouted his nonsense to the woods. "Besides. I saw you coming five miles away." He said as stuck his nose up in the air and walk a few paces back. "And now you're going to pay, for I am a feared elite of the Yami no Kaze!" And with this lie, Dustin struck a pose on a large root that was sticking up out of the ground. After a second of stability, Dustin wobbled and fell of the root, hitting the ground butt first. "Stupid root..." Dusting said, pouting at the thing.

Niji pushed herself off the ground and dusted off the seat of her jeans, watching the kid dressed like the Grim Reaper get up and try to give Shin an intimidating look once he had stood up again. Shin just turned around to give Niji a confused look before turning back to the kid, who had jumped onto a root by now, shouting some nonsense to them. Snuck up on him? Didn't he roll down the hill? Niji asked Shin telepathically. And wasn't he screaming when he first saw us? Well he is just a kid, Shin pointed out in his head. Did he just say he was a "feared Elite of the Yami no Kaze? Now Niji was having difficulty holding back her laughter. Let me have some fun with this kid, Shin. When the kid fell onto the ground, Niji slipped a knife from her bag and tossed it into the air, catching it with ease when it came down. The blade was a metallic silver, and looked as if it was brand new: not a mark was on it aside from the design carved into it, which ran from the pommel of the ebony black hilt to the tip of the blade and resembled a Chinese dragon, wrapping around the weapon. Obviously whoever made this knife paid excellent attention to detail. "So, you say you're Yami no Kaze?" Niji said coolly as she sauntered over to the kid, the knife's sharp blade flashing in the sunlight. "Such a shame, having to dispose of one so young." The eighteen-year-old stuck her tongue out a little and rand the blunt edge of the knife across it, giving the kid a devilish smirk all the while.

Dustin got up off the ground and fixed his cape. When he looked up, he saw the girl holding a knife. Dustin's jaw dropped and his eyes widened. He was right! They were demons sent to kill him! Dustin took a step back. "Y- Y- You wouldn't kill me!" Dustin spat out, trying so hard to retain his fearfulness. "I'm just a kid!" He took a few steps back. "I- I mean, I'm to powerful! I'll kill you first!" He said as he stuck his plastic scythe out at Niji. "So back off, or you'll lose your head!" The toy was obviously shaking, despite Dustin's wishes. Sucking up all the courage he could, the little blond boy started to inch ever so slightly towards the knife-wielding girl. His burnt eye was twitching with fear and his teeth were pressing against each other with enough force to crush a bone.
In a patch of the woods that was not too far from the scene, behind Niji and Shin, the darkness overtook sight. Nothing could be seen. And from this darkness, two glowing eyes appeared and watched the scene in front of them. They followed Dustin as he started to move towards the two others. It was only after the pair of eyes saw the knife in the girl's hand that they ceased to just watch. From the dark void of that patch of woods, a dark purple ball of energy shot out and headed straight for the girl's back.

Niji poked the plastic scythe with her knife, leaving a small cut at the edge as she did so. She smirked the boy, giving him a dark look. Without warning, she threw the knife towards him like one would skip a stone. The blade whizzed just above his ear, hacking off the ends of a few strands of hair before making a U-turn around his head and flying back into her awaiting hand, where she twirled it skillfully, grinning. "Niji, look out!" At her friend's sudden call, the girl turned her head to see the ball of darkness zooming towards her, but merely turned away with a "Feh." Just before it could hit her, a black shape streaked from the shadows and collided with the ball, destroying it. The shape landed gracefully on the ground, red eyes glaring at the direction the Shadow Ball had come from. "Nice one, Getsuei," Niji complimented without turning around to look at the Umbreon. "You've gotten better." "Can you please try to avoid getting yourself into trouble, or is that too much to ask for?" The eighteen-year-old turned her head towards another voice, spotting a lavender cat with a Y-shaped tail slinking towards her, giving her a glare with her violet eyes. "Too much trouble," the brunette replied with a grin, causing the feline to flick her split tail in irritation. "Besides, Getsuei's got it, don'tcha, Getsuei?" The Umbreon said nothing, his crimson eyes glaring at where he knew his opponent was, ebony fur bristling and golden rings glowing brightly.

Dustin only watched as the Shadow Ball flew at his possible attacker. He knew this well. Xavier's getting him out of trouble... again. Dustin got ready to run once the ball hit his foes. He cockily closed his eyes and started to trot away when he heard something odd. an explosion. The Shadow Ball's explosion. It was behind it. He opened his eyes and looked around. The girl with the knife was still standing and behind him was a smouldering tree stump. emitting purple, ghostly haze. She dodged it? From where he was, Dustin could see the eyes glowing from the darkness. He knew those eyes well. They were Xavier's, "You're such an idiot for doing this" look. And Dustin shot back the usual eye-reply, "Am not!" Xavier slowly floated out from his darkness and into sight. The Gastly look at the Umbreon before him. It was obvious he was annoyed by the way he scowled at the black pokemon and the two other humans as he floated over to Dustin. "Leave him be," Xavier said, in a calm voice "He doesn't know what he's doing." Xavier stopped and looked at Niji's knife. He moved over to her. "Besides, pulling a knife out on a child is just a horrible thing to do." The gastly caught a glimpse of the KnS badge on the girl. "You, a Hero of all people, should know better." said the ghost with that disappointed, motherly tone in his voice. Xavier only floated there, huge white eyes glaring at Niji. She sickened him. A protector of good for this region was terrifying innocent children for amusement. Disgusting. "Come on, Xavier." Dustin called, impatiently, "Let's just go. We don't wanna be with these losers anyway." Obviously, with Xavier's presence, Dustin was much more confident.

"I ain't a Hero, I'm a Warrior," Niji said, frowning a bit. "Get your facts straight!" "Niji..." The girl turned around on her heel and looked back at Shin, who was rubbing the back of his head and giving her a what-am-I-gonna-do-with-you look written all over his face. He received a small glare from his younger friend. "Don't give me that look! Someone had to teach that kid that what he was doing was dangerous!" she snapped, putting up her knives before crossing her arms over her chest. "There's a better way of doing things like that," he sighed, walking forward to stand next to Niji and placing a hand on her head. "I'm sorry about my friend's behavior," Shin apologized to the Gastly. "She doesn't think things all the way through sometimes." "I'm right here, you know," Niji complained, but she felt a small flick on the back of her head, which was Shin's way of telling her to shut up for now and let him do the talking. She muttered a small "ow" and rubbed the back of her head, but said nothing more.

"You don't have to make it your business to teach him anything," explained the Gastly, "That's what I'm for." "You're not my mom!" Dustin whined, feeling demeaned by this conversation. Xavier ignored him and addressed Shin. "Yes, yes. I know what it's like to have an incompetent partner as well." "Shut up!" Dustin whined again, but with twice the whining tone. Xavier shot Dustin a stern, motherly-like look. The little blond boy pouted and walked away. "He's just a little boy. Nobody respects him. So he pretends to be in the YnK and love death et cetera," Xavier explained, "Because he wants people to fear him. With fear comes respect." With that fact about Dustin out, the Gastly let out a sigh. "It's pathetic, I know."
By this time, Dustin had made his way around the back of the two KnS members. He felt the need to redeem himself after his series of humiliations. But how? How could he get his revenge on this girl who tried to kill him? Oh, it'd need to be a good one. Here he was, right behind the unsuspecting victim. But what to do to get back at her...? He had it. It was brilliant. She'd regret ever messing with Dustin Feckler! Using the butt of his plastic scythe, Dustin reached up and started poking the back of Niji's head. "Hey! You're stupid!"
