Well that was unexpected. Shin hadn't expected the feline to be able to counter something that could cause an explosion that large. He held an arm in front of his face as a bit of the smoke swept past him before lowering it and squinting into the battlefield, waiting impatiently for the smoke to clear enough to see the outcome. The first thing he saw was that the Delcatty was finally down, and it didn't look like it was going to get back back up again. However, Machamp was down as well, and it didn't look like he was getting back up either.
~x*x~
When the smoke finally cleared and the field became visible once more, the official stared at the two Pokemon, waiting a bit to make sure none of them were trying to get up once more. When neither stirred, he raised the red flag into the air once more. "Both Pokemon are unable to battle!" he announced loudly. "The battle is a draw!"

The referee might have decreed the match a draw, but to Jaden, this was a victory. To come to even a draw with such a type disadvantage was indeed a notice to the other that he wasn't all talk. And Jaden liked to talk. Sebastien's Poké Ball was pulled out and the feline was returned, and when tha capsule disappeared another was revealed. And then, a smile cracked onto his pale face. The crowd was chattering over the draw and once it died down, Jaden acted.
He spun around on his heel and slung the Poké Ball high, watching it nearly explode with blue and gold flames, his beautiful Altaria rocketing from the heart of the blaze and diving down, pulling up at the last moment and throwing up a shower of sparkling dust, received excellently by the crowd. Jaden sure liked to show off. And as long as he had the bigger fanbase in this competition, he would do better. He would have the support, and that would surely throw a wrench into Shin's game.
Narissa landed gracefully and cooed, fluffy body collected like a cloud, waiting for her opponent to show.

Shin pulled Machamp's ball from his belt once more and held it out in front of him, pointing the button on the front directly at the Pokémon still sprawled out on the battlefield. A red beam of light shot out from it and hit the fighting type, causing its entire body to turn crimson like the beam before being pulled back into the spherical device, which was placed back on Shin's belt once more. Obviously, his opponent wasn't a pushover, and as he sent out his Altaria, Shin's hand hovered over another Poké Ball before hesitating, then plucking a third one from his belt and tossing it into the air. The ball opened in midair, spilling white light onto the ground that quickly shaped itself into another bipedal Pokémon, though this one only had two arms. Clutched in either hand was a spoon, both slightly bent. The Alakazam gripped these tightly as he glared his opponent down, awaiting his trainer's command.

Jaden and Narissa both looked over their opponent, and though this strategy was harsh, it was highly affective. And Narissa knew that it was not in vain, either, or that Jaden enjoyed putting her welfare on the line for victory, so it was perfectly fine with her. The effeminate man put his hands on his hips, deciding to take the first call. And what a call it would be.
"I assure you, this won't take long. Now Narissa, use Perish Song."
Oh, and he made a rhyme while he was at it. This was too easy, really. Shin was, to be blunt, screwed. And Jaden was sure that he knew it too as Narissa's feathers ruffled and she opened her beak, releasing a terrible, haunting melody into the air that made her visibly wince. Her trainer's face showed mild discomfort, and the rest of the crowd, while some were dumbfounded at the choice of attack, others covered their ears to block out the horrible sound. It was like a group of wind instruments whose reeds had rotted. Yet, somehow... it was beautiful. It was.. oh, what was the word...
It was a requiem.

Shin clenched his fist as the deadly song wafted in the air, causing Alakazam to flinch slightly, but held his ground. Shin knew that if he wanted to win this round, he'd have to take out that Altaria, and quickly. Luckily, Alakazam knew a move that would do quadruple the normal damage to the Pokémon, which was why he had decided on the psychic type. "Quick, Alakazam!" he ordered. "Ice Punch!" He didn't even have to give a command. Alakazam had charged forward at "quick," balling a hand into a fist, which slowly began freezing as he speedily approached the blue and white Pokémon.

Shin was too late to stop the attack, and the limit on both Pokemon's consciousness' was now ticking away, grain by grain of sand on the metaphorical plane. However, if Altaria went down first, they would lose this match, and then...well, he wasn't what would happen then, considering that if he won the last round it would more than likely be sent to a sudden death, but... It was better to avoid that altogether. Which meant only thing: Stall. And what better way to do that than:
"Mirror Move!"
Altaria cut the blasted music and twirled, right wing flying forward and suddenly becoming encased in ice, on a direct collision course for the Alakazam's own Ice Punch. Operation stall and annoy initiated. Jaden needed to only hold the Pokémon off for a short amount of time; within the minute both it and Narissa would be down, and then it would all or nothing in the last round. He was looking forward to that.

Obviously, Jaden was trying to stall them and make this match a draw as well. He probably had an ace up his sleeve still which he probably planned to use in the final round. Shin wasn't sure what this ace might be, but he'd rather have a win under his belt, just in case. With that Perish Song still waiting to take its effect, Jaden had a choice to make. Should he risk charging in with this attack only to have his Alakazam attacked as well, or should he order the Pokémon to dodge it, risking losing an opportunity to try to take it down before both of them fainted. Shin made his choice. "Keep going, Alakazam!" he shouted, watching the Pokémon anxiously from his position. "Full power!" Alakazam concentrated as much power as he could into his fist, causing the iciness to grow even more as he approached the Altaria. Once they had drawn close enough to each other, Alakazam swung his fist forward.

Jaden didn't think he would have fallen for that. Honestly, how stupid were the people in this region? Those in Sinnoh proved to be more worthy adversaries to his Pokémon. No matter, Shin took the bait in plan A and Jaden moved on to step two of said plan, and acted immediately.
"Dragonbreath! At the ground, then its back- curl over!" he ordered swiftly, a fist clenched at his side. He absolutely had to bide their time for as long as it took for the two Pokémon to collapse and tuck another draw under his belt.
Narissa was used to these risky, last second changes in plan, and she did as she was told, flapping her wings suddenly and breaking the ice from her feathers in a shower of crystalline shards, the blue and gold unnatural fire-esque energy blasting into the ground at her claws. Wings tilted, she preformed a flip over the Alakazam, just barely avoiding that deadly punch, her fire then going straight for the Pokémon's back. The ice that was falling to the ground was caught in the blast and created another shower, but of little water droplets that caught the light and made them sparkle and shine. That was a move on Narissa's part and the crowd liked it.
Even Jaden's Pokémon were showoffs. Go figure.
